Terms of Service

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These terms cover your use of keepsake: the website, the app, the browser extension, and the API (together, "keepsake"). Keepsake is run by Onclick Cooperative Inc ("we" or "us"). By using keepsake you agree to these terms, and if you do not agree, please do not use it.

What keepsake is

Keepsake saves the pages you bookmark and keeps a private copy of each one, as readable text, a PDF, a thumbnail, and the page's own HTML and images, so the bookmark still opens after the original changes or disappears. Our Privacy Policy says what we keep about you and why.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old to use keepsake, and able to agree to these terms. If you use keepsake for an organization, you confirm you can agree to these terms for it.

Your account

You agree to give us a real email address, to keep your password and API tokens to yourself, and to tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including everything saved with your API tokens.

Using keepsake well

Please do not:

  • break the law or anyone else's rights with keepsake
  • try to reach other people's accounts or archives, or our systems beyond what keepsake offers you
  • disrupt keepsake, or overload it beyond the rate limits of your plan
  • reverse engineer keepsake's servers or copy the service itself
  • use keepsake to send spam, or to harass or harm anyone
  • reach keepsake by automated means other than the API, the browser extension, and the share targets we publish

The API and the extension are made for automation, so scripts, shortcuts, and tools that save and read your own bookmarks through them are welcome, within your plan's rate limits.

What you save

Your bookmarks are yours

Your bookmarks, tags, notes, and imports remain yours. You give us permission to store, copy, and process them only as far as we need to run keepsake for you, which includes fetching each page you save and keeping copies of it.

Copies of other people's pages

The pages you save belong to the people who published them. Keepsake keeps a private copy of each page for your own reading, reference, and research, and never shows your copies to anyone else. You are responsible for having the right to keep a copy of what you save, and for following the terms of the sites you save from, including when you save a page you were signed in to see.

Reporting a copy

If you believe a copy kept in keepsake infringes your rights, write to legal@onclick.coop with the address of the original page, the work you believe is infringed, and how to reach you. We will act on a valid notice promptly, and we may close the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly.

What keepsake can and cannot promise

  • Captures can fail. Some pages block automated browsers, need a login our browser does not have, or break while loading, and a saved page can end up with only part of its copy, or none. The browser extension can capture what your own tab shows when our browser cannot.
  • Links are checked periodically. Keepsake checks each saved address about once a month, so a page can go missing between checks.
  • Plans have limits. Bookmarks are unlimited on every plan, while the number of pages archived each month and the storage they use are capped per plan, as the pricing page shows.

Paid plans

Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance each month through Stripe, and you authorize us to charge your payment method when each period starts. Fees are not refundable except as these terms say or the law requires.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time through the billing portal on the billing page. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for, then your account moves to the free plan, and we do not refund part of a period.

Price changes

We tell you at least 30 days before a price changes, and the new price starts with your next period after that, so you can cancel first if you do not want it.

When an account ends

You can close your account at any time. Your account page exports everything as one file and closes the account, which deletes it and what it saved.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts keepsake or other people at risk. Unless the law or a safety concern stops us, we tell you why and give you 30 days to export your bookmarks and archives before we delete them. If we close an account without its holder breaking these terms, we refund the unused part of the current paid period.

The parts of these terms that by their nature should outlast an account, such as the limits on liability, still apply after it ends.

Our property

Keepsake's software, design, and name belong to us or to those who license them to us. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

Other services

Keepsake links to and fetches from sites we do not run, and signs you in through Google, GitHub, or Discord if you choose them, and their own terms and policies govern your use of those services.

No warranty

We do not promise that keepsake will be uninterrupted or error-free, that every page will be captured, or that every copy will be complete.

Limit of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF KEEPSAKE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ABOUT KEEPSAKE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, from claims that arise from your breaking these terms, from what you save, or from your infringing someone else's rights.

Disputes

Before bringing a legal claim, please write to us and give us a chance to resolve it in good faith. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and any claim goes to the state or federal courts located in Texas.

Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we post the new version here and update the date at the top. Using keepsake after a change takes effect means you accept it, and if you do not, you can cancel and close your account.

The rest

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about keepsake.
